Naturalist-led trekking, since 2007
A small Kathmandu-based operator. Slow itineraries, same village partners every season, porter wages we publish. Built as a response to a Nepal trekking market that runs at the wrong pace.
Small on purpose.
Vimal Kumar Thapa founded Nature Treks in 2007 from a one-room office in Kathmandu. The agencies he had worked for paid porters in cash at season's end, kept the figures private, and ran groups too big for the villages they walked through. We were built to do the opposite of those three things.
19 years on, we've guided 1,300+ trekkers across the Annapurnas, Everest, Langtang, Manaslu, Dolpo and the lowland reserves. Still small. Vimal and the office team still answer every enquiry themselves.
Three operational principles
Habitats over highlights
Itineraries are routed to keep group sizes small in fragile zones — the cloud forests of Langtang, the alpine meadows of Manaslu, the trans-Himalayan corridors of Dolpo. Group caps don't move with demand.
Locally-owned, repeatedly
Same teahouse families season after season. {{CFUG_SHARE_PCT}} of every trip price goes to {{NAMED_CFUG_PARTNERS}}, audited by {{CFUG_AUDITOR_NAME}}.
Naturalist-led, named
Lead guides are named on every trip page (no anonymous "expert guide" framing). They can identify the bird in the canopy, the geology under your feet, the language family of the next village.
