Vimal Kumar Thapa
Naturalist, guide, and the person who replies when you write to us.

A guide who reads the landscape.
Vimal grew up in the foothills of the Annapurnas, in a village where the forest was both kitchen and classroom. He started guiding in his early twenties and has spent three decades walking Nepal's long-distance trails — from the jungle margins of Chitwan to the Tibetan-border villages of Upper Mustang.
He founded Nature Treks because the trekking industry of the 2000s left him uneasy: too many crowded teahouses, too few guides who could tell a Himalayan Monal from a Kalij Pheasant, and too little of the money staying in the villages doing the hard work.
